Rema’s "Calm Down" continues to break records, solidifying its place in music history. The 24-year-old Nigerian star's hit is now the most-streamed Afrobeats song in the US, surpassing one billion on-demand streams, according to Chart Data.

Released in February 2022 as a single from his debut album Rave and Roses, "Calm Down" quickly became a sensation. Billboard music analysts attribute its success to its "melancholy slow jam with a subtle hypnotic draw," making it irresistibly memorable.

The remix, featuring US singer Selena Gomez, further catapulted the song's popularity, reaching the billion-plays milestone on Spotify. It also became the first African song to spend a year on the Billboard Hot 100, peaking at number three.

The music video for the remix has nearly 894 million views on YouTube, making it the most-watched music video by a Nigerian artist. Rema’s unique style, which he calls "Afrorave," has cemented his position among Afrobeats giants like Burna Boy, Wizkid, and Davido.
